DeathMarker works with ARK's own death waypoints and changes when they appear and when they go away. Players have nothing new to learn, and the plugin stores no data of its own.

Offline deaths

A player killed while logged off gets the normal in-world waypoint when they log back in; vanilla ASA only marks the spot on the map. The waypoint follows the body, or the death bag if the body was eaten or harvested. If neither is found near the death spot, it stays on the spot itself.

Deaths with nothing to recover

If the player carried nothing that would go into a death bag, no waypoint is created, and their earlier waypoints are left alone. For an offline death, the "killed while away" message is skipped as well.

Earlier waypoints stay

Normally a new death hides the previous waypoint in the world. With DeathMarker, each death with items keeps its own waypoint until it is dismissed. The game's limit of five still applies, so a sixth death drops the oldest.

Clears when you arrive

Walking up to your own body or death bag removes its waypoint from the screen and the map. Only the owner counts; another player standing on the body does not clear it.

Arriving from another map

The offline waypoint appears at a normal login. A player who comes back by transferring in from another map gets it on a later normal login instead.
